Ingrid Vargas was born in Colombia and came to Canada when she was three years old, as her parents had immigrate to Calgary seeking more opportunities for their family. She works as a filmmaker of both independent films and music videos, as well as a producer. As a filmmaker, her primary interest lies in dramas that speak to the Latin diaspora community in North America. She additionally feels strongly connected to the Latino/a/x art and cultural movement in the USA. Among her filmmaker inspirations is Toronto-based Colombian-Canadian filmmaker Lina Rodríguez.
