Notes for Barbara Laukhardt

Ellis Island records show a "Barbara Janz" arriving in New York on the "Olympic" on November 28, 1922. She is listed as being from Radanti, Bucovina, age 65 years and a widow. Her next of kin contact is Karolina Dzundra, Cernanti, Zucovina, Clocnozka 836. Her destination is Cleveland, Ohio, where she is meeting son Franz Mayer, 20 - 23 Marizon Street.

Herbert Mayer wrote that after Barbara's husband Jakob Janz passed away in 1920, ÙSBarbara returned to Radautz. She again returned to Cleveland in 1922 with her widowed sister Theresa. On return she took residence with Frank and Marie Mayer (nee Janz). As an aging widow in 1930, she left us to return to Czernowitz, presumably to live with Karolina. Barbara died in 1934.ÙT
