Birthdate as per information written in records provided by daughter Karoline Janz.

According to Ellis Island Passernger manifests, Jakob Janz from Radautz entered the USA at age 48 on April 25, 1910 aboard The George Washington. He arrived with his daughter Maria Janz, listed as 16 years old. Jakob's wife / Maria's mother is listed as Barbara Janz from Radautz - and she is listed as a next of kin (Jakob is not listed as a widower).

Jakob and daughter Maria were destined to Cleveland, Ohio, where a friend Otto Urbansky is listed as living at 2700 Lorain Av. According to The Cleveland Press obituaries, Otto Urbanski was Jakob Janz's son-in-law, married to Ida Janz.

Ohio Death Certificate Index at http://ohsweb.ohiohistory.org/death/ shows the following: JANZ, Jacob Death date: 2/23/1920, Cuyahoga County Volume #3191, Certificate #10348

Jakob Janz's grandson, Herbert Mayer, living in Cleveland, confirmed in a letter dated March 15, 2008, that he personally knew both Jakob Janz and Barbara Laukhardt. They moved to Cleveland, Ohio, to where seven of their eight children had moved during the early 1900's. Jakob Janz is buried at St. Mary's Cemetary in Cleveland.
